Only in Dreams
This morning I woke up from the greatest dream
Where we had almost nothing standing in our way,
The grass and the summer trees blossomed with green leaves,
While I lay stationary; alone in reality, but in thought we'd run away.
I went over to your house, and we ran from the others,
Me in a suit, you in a wedding dress, like we were lovers.
My hand in yours, your hand in mine,
Walking through a graveyard, to the end of time.
It was the most magical a.m. of my life, though I wasn't living it
and I long for you and I someday, to be legit
and even though my eyes opened to morning lights,
maybe, just maybe, I'll sleep a little harder tonight.
For even being across towns and across state lines,
will never change the emptiness in being without
your hand,
in mine.
Until the end of time.
