Oh Future

Oh future,

Where have we gone?

Have we found our greatest song?

And did it take us very long?

Oh, and how’s the healing process going?

It’s been hard living without knowing

How the future has gone,

So get back to me before long.

Oh past self,

Where have we gone?

Didn’t quite find our symphony song,

Seems to take pretty long.

How’s the healing process going?

It’s gone quicker than we could ever heal ourselves, not knowing

How our futures’ predictions have gone,

Please write back to me before long.

Oh future,

Thanks for the response,

In life, it seems the greatest goodbye

Is Father time passing us by,

Quicker than we can find ourselves,

For it seems God put us on shelves,

To forget us, and to grow dust

To grow immense distrust.

Oh past self,

There is much for you to learn,

Someday soon you will yearn

For sense in a world that forgets

But not completely just yet.

God didn’t put you on a shelf,

You just haven’t found yourself.

Listen to the people around you,

Or you make your own hell.

Oh future,

For you I now yearn

There is so much for me to learn,

My limited mindset I leave,

For a sensical state of belief.

I control my own ship,

I’ll take in life with every tip,

And try to watch my mindless lips.

Oh past self,

Just remember not to give into toxicity,

And don’t be brainless for bad publicity,

Take your feelings off of their shelf,

Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Trust your gut instinct when something’s wrong,

And don’t mistreat your symphony song.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,

And trust yourself, through and through.
